This is a drive-thru clinic – please stay in your vehicle.
Make sure dogs are leashed and cats are crated
State law requires all dogs to wear a collar and tag and to be licensed in the town where they reside, in accordance with Vermont statutes (20 V.S.A. § 3581).
To register your dog, please bring a current rabies vaccination certificate and, if applicable, proof of spaying or neutering to the Town Clerk’s Office. You can pay with a credit card, cash or check. Once registered, you will be issued a dog license and tag. Dog registrations for the new year began in January 2026 and the last day to register without a late fee is April 1st.

Impound Procedures
Dogs may be impounded if they are found stray or running at large, are unlicensed, unregistered, or not current on rabies vaccination. Animal Control may also take an animal into custody if it appears to be in danger or at risk to its health or safety. Impoundment costs may include ticket fines, impound fees, and boarding expenses. Dogs will not be released to their owners until proof of current licensing is provided.
Lost or Found a Pet
If you have lost or found a dog, please contact Animal Control as soon as possible with a description of the animal at (802) 439-6877 or countrycaninevt@gmail.com. Prompt reporting helps reunite pets with their owners.
Cats are not impounded for running at large. If your cat is missing, you may contact the Central Vermont Humane Society at (802) 476-3811 or Animal Control for guidance. What can I do if my neighbor’s dog is barking or is loose?
Concerns regarding a neighbor’s dog that is barking excessively or running at large are often best addressed by first speaking directly and respectfully with the dog’s owner. If the issue is not resolved, residents may contact the Town Office or the Selectboard for further guidance. While the Town of Orange does not have a leash law, dogs are subject to the Town’s Animal Control Ordinance, which is available on the Town’s website for reference.
